Georgia
There are no known cougar populations in Georgia. A that cougar was shot in Troup County in November of 2008 was declared by the DNR to be an escaped exotic pet. DNR biologists maintain no wild population of the Eastern cougar remains in Georgia, and the nearest viable population is in southern Florida.
