New Mexico legislators throw out cougar bill
A bill that would have changed the status of cougars from “game animal” to “unprotected furbearer” has been killed by it’s sponsor in the New Mexico House. If passed, the bill would have allowed for unregulated hunting and trapping of cougars throughout the state. We were vehemently opposed to this legislation and were relieved to see it die. Thank you to everyone who wrote letters to the legislators!
