TECHNICAL AND EDUCATIONAL INITIATIVES COORDINATOR
The Cougar Fund is a small yet impactful non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of and advocacy for mountain lions and other large carnivores. With a strong emphasis on education and public engagement, we strive to raise awareness about the importance of preserving these magnificent animals and their habitats. Founded and led by passionate individuals, our organization has made significant strides in our mission, but there’s much more to be done.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic, dedicated and talented multitasker to join our team and play a pivotal role in advancing our technical and educational initiatives. Work will be mostly in the office and on site of engagements. Hours and salary commensurate with experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of wildlife biology and ecology. Strong passion for wildlife conservation and advocacy, particularly in the context of wild carnivores.
- Proficient in video editing software with the ability to creatively and effectively edit short videos collected from trail cameras for educational and outreach purposes.
- Experience in developing and implementing school programming, with a focus on creating engaging and interactive educational experiences.
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills, with a proven track record of engaging diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in WordPress and other content management systems, with experience in website management and maintenance.
- Advanced computer skills, particularly with Apple/Mac equipment, including proficiency in spreadsheet management, and presentation software.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for outreach events and engagements, with flexibility for infrequent weekend work and frequent evening programming in the summer.
- Familiarity with social media and willingness to create meaningful posts supporting our mission to educate about and protect large carnivores, especially mountain lions.
- Able to provide administrative support as needed, including but not limited to managing emails, data entry, scheduling meetings, and maintaining records.
In addition to the primary responsibilities outlined, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of new K-8 school programming and outreach initiatives, aimed at expanding our current constituency and reaching a broader audience. This position offers a unique opportunity to utilize a diverse skill set to expand public knowledge of the important role of large carnivores on the landscape. Through exciting hands-on programming, you will help children understand and appreciate the delicate balance of the natural world.
